　　首先，管道线路中最重要的支架类型是固定支架。固定支架一般安装在管道末端封闭，以承受线路关闭时形成的巨大水锤压力。这里强调水锤压力是泵阀关闭时介质在惯性的指导下对管壁形成的巨大冲击。水锤力会对管道的转弯和分流产生一定的影响，因此也需要在这些地方安装固定支架来保护管道。除水锤力外，管道和介质的自重也需要固定支架支撑。

　　二是二次固定支架，实际上是主固定支架的衍生物，其作用是将两个主固定支架之间的距离细分为多个单元，分担主支架的压力。
　　最后一种叫做导向支架，它是一种保护波纹补偿器。由于有些轴向型只能补偿轴向位移，不能用来补偿横向或角位移，但管道运行过程中产生的振动不会那么规则，因此有必要依靠导向型支架来保护轴向型波纹补偿器，避免横向或角变形。
